South Fork is fortunate to be located at the junction of two rivers, the South Fork River which flows down 3,000 vertical feet from the Continental Divide at Wolf Creek Pass and the Rio Grande River which has its headwaters nearby in the San Juan Mountains above Creede, CO. The Rio Grande is the third largest river in the US and flows 1,865 miles to the Gulf of Mexico, near Brownsville, TX.
Here in the high country the rivers are clean, cold, wild, and excellent trout habitat. Large, mature trees and lush shrubbery line the rivers’ banks. Fishing, rafting, kayaking and tubing are very popular, and a kayak water park is in the early stages of development in South Fork. The Rio Grande Golf Course meanders along the river and crosses it in several places. Two of the local residential developments have fishing lodges on The Rio Grande which may be used by their members.
Vacant land on the South Fork River begins in the $90's and on the Rio Grande River in the high $100's. Home prices generally start in the mid $300’s. Currently there are numerous homes for sale on the river.
Please let me know if you would more information about any of these river properties.
