Golfing Near South Fork
 The Rio Grande Club is Colorado’s premiere golf facility located at the base of Wolf Creek Pass in South Fork. Designed by the associates at Redstone Golf, the Rio Grande Club includes an 18-hole championship course, a driving range, a putting green, and a full service pro shop. The course is semi-private and the public is welcomed.
On the front nine, players enjoy a combination of sandstone outcroppings as well as aspen, pines and cottonwood groves, and challenging shots across the Rio Grande River. On the back nine, there are dramatic elevations, the serene and beautiful Alder Creek, and rolling mountain-style terrain that will assure your return visit for another round.
There are specific facilities at The Rio Grande Club which are available to the general public for weddings and special events. The golf course and the resort’s restaurant and River Grill are also open to the public, but the other amenities, such as the Fly-Fishing Lodge with access to the Rio Grande, the spa and fitness center, tennis courts, a pool complex, and the other amenities at the resort are reserved for members and their guests to enjoy.
A second golf course near South Fork is located in the city of Monte Vista. The Monte Vista Country Club course is a 9-hole course with two courses for the men: the Blue Course, which is 3056 yards; and the White Course, which is 2966. Both are par 35. The women have a single course, the Red Course, which is 2561 yards long with a par 36.
Though not in Rio Grande County, The Cattails in Alamosa, CO is 18-hole course on the north side of Alamosa, just over the Rio Grande River. An hour from South Fork, CO this is a beautiful 18-hole public course set in magnificent surroundings. The course is a unique par 71 that winds through tall, mature Cottonwood trees and wetlands of cattails against a backdrop of beautiful mountain vistas. |
